Salesforce calls the announcement "Slack + Salesforce: One Conversation, Full Context, Unlimited Action." It aims to put an end to fragmented workflows and improve cross-team collaboration and action.

Salesforce Channels: Integration of CRM Systems with Communication

The focus of this update is the addition of Salesforce Channels, which allows linking CRM records to Slack workspaces. Every opportunity, account, or support ticket now has an associated Slack conversation powered by Salesforce data and AI, which happens in real-time. 

Instead of switching applications or going through dashboards, collaborators and team members can work in Slack. Every message is based on real-time customer context. The goal of this change is to enable the transformation of records from stagnant status into discussions that bring action.
